This step by step tutorial is to demonstrate the basic steps for configuring RAID 0 in HP Server and is aimed at beginners and above.

RAID is the short form of Redundant Array of Independent Disks which is a way of storing the same data in different places on multiple hard disks.  There are different RAID levels in the industry now and most popular are four levels

  • RAID 0
  • RAID 1
  • RAID 5
  • RAID 1+0

In this tutorial we are going to discuss about the basic RAID level. In RAID level 0(zero) disks are striped so no redundancy of data. This level delivers the best performance without fault-tolerance. I have taken one HP Server to show you how we can configure RAID level 0. We need to have minimum two disks to configure RAID 0. When one of disk fails, you will lose data as we have striped the drives. So it is very important that when you use RAID 0 , you need to take regular backup of your data. Also this level is not recommended for critical production servers.

Let’s start configuring RAID in a HP Server. Power on the Server and wait for the Array Controller ROM utility to prompt you to press F8 to run Option ROM configurations for Arrays.

Image

Press F8 to enter the utility then you will get the Array controller utility to create logical drives.  Select Create logical drive and press Enter.

Image

Here we can see  the Available Physical Drives. Choose the drives you want to add to RAID 0 logical drive. Remember RAID-0 required minimum two disks. so select at least two drives. Once you selected drives use tab button to navigate  to the next option RAID Configuration and choose RAID 0.

Image

Press Enter to create the logical drive.

Image

Press F8 to Save the configuration. This will create the RAID 0 Logical Drive.

Image

Press Enter to continue. That will take you to the main menu again. It is good to verify the Logical drive we created. For that select View Logical Drive and press Enter

Image

That will show you the logical drive you have just created. Since I have selected all eight Physical disks (146GB each disk) available, for this logical drive we have got 1 TB capacity.

Image

You can Select the Logical Drive and press  Enter to see the physical disk array(total number of disk used in this RAID-0 local drive.

Image

You need to press ESC to return to main menu. when you done press ESC again to quit from the utility and server will continue the boot process.

congratulation !! and there you have created RAID 0 in HP Server !

Hope you find this tutorial useful.  please Leave a comment If you have any problems .

This step by step tutorial is to demonstrate the basic steps for installing Windows 7 and is aimed at beginners and above.

To start  Windows installation, insert the CD/DVD and boot/reboot your computer, it should automatically begin to run. If not then make sure the drive is set to first boot in the BIOS, see this Windows 7 BIOS guide for more info.

Load in your Windows 7 DVD and boot it. It will now load the setup files.

Select your language, time & currency format, keyboard or input method and click Next.

Image

Click Install now.

Image

Check I accept the license terms and click Next.

Image

Click Upgrade if you already have a previous Windows version or Custom (advanced) if you don’t have a previous Windows version or want to install a fresh copy of Windows 7.

Image

(Skip this step if you chose Upgrade and have only one partition) Select the drive where you want to install Windows 7 and click Next. If you want to make any partitions, click Drive options (advanced), make the partitions and then click Next.

Image

It will now start installing Windows 7. The first step, (i.e. Copying Windows files) was already done when you booted the Windows 7 DVD so it will complete instantly.

Image

After completing the first step, it will expand (decompress) the files that it had copied.

Image

Image

The third and fourth step will also complete instantly like the first step.

Image

Image

After that it will automatically restart after 15 seconds and continue the setup. You can also click Restart now to restart without any delays.

Image

Image

Image

After restarting for the first time, it will continue the setup. This is the last step so it will take the most time than the previous steps.

Image

It will now automatically restart again and continue the setup. You can click Restart now to restart without any delays.

Type your desired user name in the text-box and click Next. It will automatically fill up the computer name.

Image

If you want to set a password, type it in the text-boxes and click Next.

Image

Type your product key in the text-box and click Next. You can also skip this step and simply click Next if you want to type the product key later. Windows will run only for 30 days if you do that.

Image

Select your desired option for Windows Updates.

Image

Select your time and click Next.

Image

If you are connected to any network, it will ask you to set the network’s location.
